FAQ

Which QR types does it recognize?+

All standard QR types (URL, Wi-Fi, vCard, text, SMS, location, etc.). Very blurry or tiny QRs may not be recognized.

Does my image get uploaded somewhere?+

No. Everything is processed in your browser using the jsQR library. Nothing is sent to a server.

Will it work if the QR is partially covered?+

Depends on the error correction level. Up to 25% of the center is often recoverable, but if the corner position markers are blocked, decoding will fail.

Does it work on QR codes in screenshots?+

Yes. Phone screenshots or KakaoTalk images of QRs all work โ€” just upload the image.

Why decode a QR on a computer instead of scanning with my phone?+

Reasons: (1) Check if a QR from a stranger is a malicious URL, (2) Verify a printed QR on a PC, (3) You don't have your phone handy.

The QR image is too blurry to decode. What now?+

If the source resolution is too low, decoding is unreliable. Re-shoot or recapture at a higher resolution. Upscaling with [image resize] won't help (it doesn't add pixel information).

What if there are multiple QRs in one image?+

Currently only the first detected QR is shown. Crop the image to one QR at a time and upload them separately.
