Yes. It uses the open-source @rhwp/core (Rust + WebAssembly) engine to parse .hwp/.hwpx directly in your browser. No Hancom Office install needed.
Which versions are supported?+
HWP 5.0+ binary format and HWPX (KS X 6101 standard). Legacy HWP 3.0/97 use a different structure and aren't supported.
Are files uploaded to a server?+
No. Parsing and rendering happen entirely in your browser — nothing is transmitted. Safe even for confidential documents.
Are all formatting features preserved?+
Body text, tables, images, headers/footers, and formulas mostly render correctly. Some special shapes, macros, or Hancom-exclusive fonts may look different.
Does it work on macOS or Linux?+
Yes. Hancom Office is Windows-centric, but this viewer runs in any browser — macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, all the same.
Can I open files on mobile?+
Yes, mobile browsers (Android/iOS) work. Files over 100 pages may be slow due to memory limits, so a desktop is recommended for big files.
I uploaded a file but it won't open — why?+
Likely causes: (1) HWP 3.0/97 legacy format, (2) corrupted file, or (3) password-protected. If it opens in Hancom Office, try 'Save As' to the latest .hwp/.hwpx and retry.
