FAQ

How does ibid. work?+

When referring to the immediately preceding citation, write 'ibid., page'. Korean papers use '위의 책' or '앞의 글'.

Footnote vs. endnote?+

Footnotes appear at the bottom of the page; endnotes gather at the end of a chapter or book. Format is the same — only location differs.

Why footnotes in humanities?+

History, literature, and philosophy require detailed sources and side notes without breaking the flow. Social and natural sciences use in-text citation more often.

Full vs. Short Note?+

First citation: Full Note (full info). Repeated citations: Short Note (author, short title, page).

Multiple citations in one footnote?+

Separate with semicolons (;). E.g., '김철수, 책1, 23; 이영희, 책2, 45.'

How do I auto-number footnotes in Word?+

Word's 'References → Insert Footnote' numbers them automatically. This tool just generates the citation text.
