FAQ

Which databases are used?+

DOIs hit CrossRef (api.crossref.org); ISBNs hit Open Library (openlibrary.org). Both are public APIs called directly.

Does it work for Korean journals?+

Yes, if the DOI is registered in CrossRef. Most KCI-listed Korean journals are.

Where do I find a DOI?+

Usually on the first page of a paper PDF, the journal's website, or Google Scholar — typically as 'doi.org/10.xxxx/...'.

Where do I find an ISBN?+

Above the barcode on a book's back cover, or by searching Aladin, Kyobo, or Amazon. 10 or 13 digits.

Lookup fails — why?+

(1) Typo in DOI/ISBN, (2) journal not in CrossRef (often non-KCI Korean journals), or (3) deprecated ISBN. Use [Citation Formatter] to enter manually.

Is my data sent externally?+

Only the DOI/ISBN string is sent to CrossRef/Open Library. No other personal data is transmitted.
