FAQ

Why only 1391–2050?+

That's the standard range with accurate Korean lunar calendar data. Beyond this range, astronomical calculations become unreliable.

What's a leap month?+

The lunar year is about 11 days shorter than the solar year, so a month is added every 2–3 years to catch up. That added month is the leap month (윤달).

Why do solar and lunar birthdays differ each year?+

A lunar birthday lands on a different solar date each year. To put your parents' lunar birthday on a solar calendar, you'll need yearly conversion.

Are seasonal terms like Hansik or Dongji supported?+

The 24 solar terms are solar-based and roughly fall on the same date each year — separate from lunar conversion.

Is North Korea's lunar calendar the same?+

South and North Korea both use the same East Asian lunar calendar. China and Vietnam are similar but with subtle differences.

My grandparents say they celebrate their lunar birthday on solar X — how?+

Lunar → solar conversion changes yearly. Either re-enter the new solar date in your calendar each year, or use an app that natively supports lunar dates.
