FAQ
What are the intervals?+
Whole blood 8 weeks (56 days); plasma 2 weeks (14 days); platelets 2 weeks. Korean Red Cross standard.
Whole blood vs apheresis?+
Whole blood draws all blood; apheresis takes only plasma or platelets and returns the rest. Faster recovery means more frequent donation.
How long to rest after donating?+
15~30 min immediately after; avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol that day. Normal activity in 2~3 hours.
Eligibility requirements?+
Age 16~69, weight 50kg (men) / 45kg (women) or more, 8+ weeks since last donation. Some medications, travel history, or colds may disqualify temporarily.
What are donation certificates used for?+
Transfer to family or friends in need, or use yourself for partial medical cost reduction if you need a transfusion.
Won't I get anemic?+
One whole blood donation recovers in about 8 weeks. The Red Cross checks hemoglobin before each donation to confirm safety.
